Esquire reviews the forthcoming (meaning this fall's) film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's The Road: "You won't want to see this one twice." That's very reassuring, actually.
The Road is no tease. It is a brilliantly directed adaptation of a beloved novel, a delicate and anachronistically loving look at the immodest and brutish end of us all. You want them to get there, you want them to get there, you want them to get there--and yet you do not want it, any of it, to end.

I must read that review--I love Esquire. And GQ. And Details. Yes. I have a problem. I always think one of the nicest things about being married is that I can check out all the lad magazines I want and say they're for my husband.
Have you seen trailers for "The Road"? Good Christ. See it twice? I'm not going to be able to handle it once, even with Viggo Mortensen.

No, I haven't seen the trailers. I keep meaning to watch them, but it slips my mind. I had travel plans to fly to New York late last year to catch the premier, but they yanked it. Bastards. Now it doesn't come out until this fall.
