Proof that Philip Roth is a narcissist and a male chauvanist: in his novel Everyman, the main character--i.e., Roth himself--confesses, "Should he ever write an autobiography, he'd call it The Life and Death of a Male Body." That single line sums up the entire book, as well as most of Roth's literary output, quite nicely.
