David Foster Wallace: dead at forty-six.
I've been interested in reading his books for some time, so this comes as sad news, indeed.

I was shocked too. The only thing I've read by Wallace was his introduction to one of the Best American Essays books -- which was memorable and it made me want to read more.

Oh, that just BLOWS.
I've not read his fiction but his nonfiction essays (including the intro to which Dorothy refers) are fantastic, honest, dark, funny, light, all at once.
This is very sad.
