Drinking Heineken always gives me a God damn headache, so last night, while pondering John Milton's Paradise Lost and listening to the occasional snap-crackle-pop of firecrackers outside, I wondered why, after five bottles, I continued to drink it. My mind boggled once or twice--when it wasn't about to explode out of my skull.
Maybe some lessons just aren't meant to be learned.

You have to drink SOMETHING reading Paradise Lost. I am wondering why you didn't go with something much harder, like Jack Daniels.

Well, some lessons are meant to be learned, re-learned, and then learned again. Hope you're feeling all right today.

It's funny, Heineken is one of my more favorite beers (I'll stick with Harp's or Sam Adams' Boston Lager, though).
Actually, most recently all beer has been giving me a headache. Maybe I'm getting old?

I would need a lot of Heineken to even get me to consider reading Paradise Lost - even if Imani has made it sound wonderful. Good on you for diving in, beer-in-hand and all.

what the hell is it about heineken that does that? I love that beer but it gives me horrible, horrible headaches. Haven't had one in a looong while because of it.

While in Italy, I noticed more people drinking Heineken than wine. It was odd.
The world is full of good, non-headache-inducing beers, so why bother with Heineken? Hefeweizens tend to be my favorite, but there's an Estonian beer that I drink most often: A. Le Coq Premium Extra (http://www.alecoq.ee/index.php?action=prods_change&lang_ID=2&prod_group_ID=1&prod_ID=56). The first time I bought it was for the bottle (a nice-looking and unusual design), but I kept buying it for the taste. And it has a slight honey aftertaste that I really like. Might have a hard time finding it in the US, though, but Hefeweizens can be had anywhere. And don't forget a slice of orange.
